Indi-penchant Day

"Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls; Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action --
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake."
-- Rabindranath Tagore

Here's my paraphrasing lime-wrecking...

Where the throat is without fear, and the nose is held high;
Where sneezing is free;
Where the world has not been broken into little fragments by pub denouncers and homophobic balls;
Where news comes out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless driving silences its horns and pays lanes some attention;
Where the clear stream of the water table has not been dried up by endless misuse;
Where mankind is led forward by all-encompassing thought and action;
Into that heaven of freedom, let my Country awake.

Jai Hind.
(And Sorry Tagore Uncle!)

Happy Independence Day!

(With the fading strains of... "I'm an alien, I'm a legal alien... I'm an Indian in Istanbullll...")
Getting the Indian Colours on my keychain...coincidental? I think not...

Seems appropriate even more than 4 years later, with unrest in Istanbul this year, and India itself going from bad to worse in many respects, be it crime, tolerance, or just plain humanity.
